Disney officially announces Pixar working on ‘Cars 3’ and ‘The Incredibles 2’

Cars 3 Incredibles 2It was certainly a big day for the Walt Disney Company as so much was announced at the Annual Shareholders meeting, but perhaps nothing bigger than this. Disney CEO Bob Iger officially announced that Pixar already has two sequels in the works and they are “Cars 3″ and “The Incredibles 2.”

Yes, it was not overly unexpected hearing about “Cars 3″ as a number of people thought it would come eventually.

Now, “The Incredibles 2” on the other hand, was a total shock.

So many have asked for a sequel to the film for a very long time, but it seemed like one would never come. Now, all that was said is that both films are in development and director Brad Bird is returning.

No other details were given.

On the upcoming slate for Disney and Pixar are already “The Good Dinosaur,” “Inside Out,” and “Finding Dory.”

There was no time frame set for the newly announced sequels, but just to know they will be happening at all is huge news.

A number of live films were discussed, but nothing like this.

Well, Iger did touch on “Star Wars: Episode VII” and announced that it is going to officially take place 30 years after the events of “Return of the Jedi.”

Iger also said that there would be “very familiar faces returning” along with a “trio of new leads.” This could truly play into George Lucas one time slipping that Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher will be coming back.

The meeting also revealed a new trailer for Disney’s “Maleficent” and the dates for next year’s D23 Expo in California.
