For those that didn’t get enough with “Cars” and “Cars 2,” there is at least an animated short heading your way soon from Pixar.
A new short is being worked on as we speak and it will be called “The Radiator Springs 500 1/2” and it is going to premiere later in the spring in Disney Movies Anywhere.
It appears as if Pixar is looking to return more to its roots that were shown in the first feature film as it is said to focus on beautiful landscapes, action, and comedy. “Cars 2” took a bit more of a serious tone and took the characters around the world.
Here is the official synopsis:
A “leisurely drive” planned in honor of Radiator Springs’ town founder, Stanley, turns precarious as Baja pros descend on the town and challenge Lightning McQueen to an off-road race. Meanwhile, the townsfolk, led by a Stanley-costumed Mater, enjoy the planned “leisurely drive” to retrace Stanley’s original frontier route. Thinking they’re on the same course, a wrong turn sends McQueen and the Baja pros on a treacherously wild bid for survival. The misunderstanding leaves the racing professionals in awe of the “legend” of Stanley: the Original Off-Road Racer.
Owen Wilson and the other original voices are returning for the animated short, and it looks like it is going to be a fun one.
