Exclusive Update On Possible ‘Frozen’ Attraction at Walt Disney World – Work Is In Progress

Disney's Frozen EpcotThe news and rumors on a possible “Frozen” attraction coming to Walt Disney World have been rampant in the last couple of months, and there’s always new information coming out. Now, it appears as if we have a pretty solid lead on what is to come.

A good source of mine sent word that makes it truly seem as if a “Frozen”-themed attraction is definitely on the way.

While going through a Walt Disney World design house within the last week, my source tells me that this is what was seen:

“…a HUGE amount of work being put towards a frozen attraction. Storyboards, construction designs and animatronic mock-ups for the upcoming attraction are all deep in progress.”

This is all extremely interesting and a giant step in the direction of a “Frozen” attraction happening more than it not happening.

My source did not detail what location these storyboards are for, but all of the rumors have pointed at Epcot for some time.

Magic Kingdom doesn’t seem like a possibility to me, not after all the new Fantasyland work done. Animal Kingdom is obviously out, but Disney’s Hollywood Studios is also a possibility.

Now, we’ve been told word of something “Frozen” taking over the Malestrom attraction in Norway and essentially replacing it. We’ve been told that an Anna and Elsa meet-and-greet could be returning to Epcot.

All of these things…the country of Norway isn’t overly thrilled about.

It’s hard to know what is true at this time and what isn’t.

As we know Disney, nothing is absolutely set in stone until they actually announce it. Even then, nothing is confirmed to happen (See: Haunted Mansion rooms), so who knows?

Still…the fact that storyboards, construction designs, and especially animatronic mock-ups being done means that they are taking some big steps forward in bringing a “Frozen”-themed attraction somewhere.

All we can do is wait and see.

  1. John Berggren says

At the very least, they’d do well to leave the ice skating attraction in DHS.
Depending on how temporary or stopgap the attraction is, DHS seems a better fit.

Norway seems like a lock, though.

  2. I want to see pictures of the mock ups sooooo bad!!! Please get pictures as soon as you can!!!

  3. I read today on another site that no FP+ can be booked for Maelstrom after Sept 27. Now with Norway none to happy about a Frozen ride replacing it, maybe Disney is floating the Maelstrom rumor to get Norway to pony up some cash for a proper, non Frozen, redo of Maelstrom. I love a good conspiracy theory!

  4. I remember last year there was talk of renovations at the Imagination Pavilion. They were supposed to close in January, that never happened …

    • Yep. It’s why I say that never ever take anything as confirmed until Disney actually says something. Even then, it’s sketchy.

One thing though, the Imagination closure rumors were low-key. This Frozen/Norway thing is a lot more prominent. We shall see.

  5. LET MAELSTROM STAY!!!!!!!!!
