Rumors of A ‘Frozen’ Ride At Epcot Begin To Heat Up Again With Maelstrom Construction

Frozen ride EpcotWith all the news lately of rides closing – or not closing –  at Disney’s Hollywood Studios lately, the Disney rumor mill has really started to heat up. Now, the talk has turned to Epcot and rumors of a ride based on Disney’s “Frozen” is starting to heat up again.

Pardon the pun.

Back in January, the rumors of a “Frozen” ride first started and it was believed that Disney would eventually take Maelstrom in the Norway Pavilion and switch it over to the story of Anna and Elsa.

What happened in January is that reports stated Blue Sky and WDI (Walt Disney Imagineering) were given the go-ahead to start thinking of ideas for the “Frozen” attraction. The obvious location would be Maelstrom and the attraction could be transformer, so to speak.

At that point, WDI and Blue Sky could determine budget costs, overall brainstorming ideas, and determine what would be possible with a “Frozen” attraction.

Now, there is a ton of construction going on over at Maelstrom. Actually, the entire outside of the attraction is torn up and walls are up all over the place.

Combine that with numerous reports coming in that FASTPass+ reservations for Maelstrom are not available past Aug. 12, 2014. Upon checking this out for myself, that is indeed true, but it’s no telling how far that goes since I can only see about 70-ish days out.

Reports are that Maelstrom will be closing in the middle of August and it will last through to sometime in 2015 so that the “Frozen” attraction can be put in place and open next year.

Now, please know that this has not been confirmed by Disney whatsoever. These are rumors and need to be taken as such until or even if Disney announces something.

Could this happen? Sure.

But we technically and know nothing confirmed as of yet at this point in either direction – yay or nay.

God i really hope they do shut the Maelstrom ride and replace it with a Frozen ride. I really love this film and have heard this rumor since December 2013. I am really eager to hear the announcement from Disney as I am going to Disney World late 2016 and heard that Avatar Land will not be opening till early 2017 so this ride will turn my frown upside down please please please bring this ride before end of 2016. I have also heard that they are replacing Soarin with Soarin over the Horizon that is coming to Shanghai for early 2016. Again i would love to go on this ride when i am over there so please please Disney allow both of these rides to come before I go.
