Doctor Disney’s “12 Days to Christmas” Countdown: (99)9 Happy Haunts

On the ninth day of Christmas, Doctor Disney gave to you all…(99)9 Happy Haunts!

Come now, you didn’t think I could have a countdown without having my favorite attraction of all in there somewhere. The Haunted Mansion is said to be home to 999 happy haunts, but of course…there’s room for a thousand. Believe it or not, the haunts in the attraction actually all have back stories and names and everything that goes along with them being spectral haunts.

Christmastime is one of my favorite times of year to ride the Haunted Mansion, even though the Walt Disney World version does not transform into holiday form at this time of year like the one at Disneyland does. A lot of people aren’t pleased with that because they’d love to see the “Nightmare Before Christmas” treatment come to WDW, but that just isn’t happening.

It most likely won’t for a long time either. Back at the “Room For 1 More” event in 2011, Imagineers were questioned about why the “Haunted Mansion Holiday” is only at Disneyland and their response made sense…Disney only wanted it in one place and didn’t want to take away Disney World’s 999 happy haunts for even a couple months.

Personally, I’d love to enjoy the “Haunted Mansion Holiday” often, but am not totally against it not being available in Walt Disney World. None the less, the 999 happy haunts of the world are always there to greet you at Walt Disney World. Wait, you know what I mean. I’m thankful for this incredible attraction all the time, and below is just a few of the names of the haunts that you can find in the Haunted Mansion.

In the future, there will be many more looks into the haunts of the Haunted Mansion, and you won’t believe how some of them came to be.
