Beginning today, Aug. 19, 2014, guests will now be able to purchase MagicBands without having to automatically link them to a Walt Disney World ticket. This means that guests will now be able to purchase MagicBands as gifts or as many for themselves as they wish.
Up until now, guests could purchase additional MagicBands for $12.95 plus tax. At the time of purchase though, the bands would be automatically linked to a guest’s ticket by Cast Members.
You can’t purchase MagicBands as stand-alone items at all locations as of yet though. They can be picked up from:
- All four Disney Parks
- Downtown Disney
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- Disney’s Pop Century Resort
- Disney’s Port Orleans Resort
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
More MagicBands-for-only purchase locations are likely to be added later.
Only MagicBands that are solid colors will be able to be purchased without linking them to a park ticket. The special-edition bands such as “Frozen” and “Star Wars” bands.
There is a limit of five MagicBands per style that can be purchased at any one time.
