With Star Wars Land plans on hold for Disneyland, have they been cancelled for Disney World?

Star Wars Land rumorsIn the past year, there have been rumors and news coming out about Avatarland, Star Wars Land, a second Cars Land, and even Monstropolis coming to Walt Disney World. While some may be coming true and others could come true…some may just be rumors forever.

One of those that could never come to fruition is the creation of Star Wars Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and recent reports have that to actually be true.

MiceChat has given an update on Star Wars Land coming to Disneyland, and they actually go into detail of how things are going to work out as Tomorrowland is transformed.

Star Wars Land has not been officially announced for Disneyland, but all reports point to it being given the green light out in California. The problem is that it has been put on hold for Disneyland in what is being called “Phase Two” (new rides and shows) of the Tomorrowland project.

With that being said, it is believed now that Star Wars Land for Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been indefinitely postponed and possible cancelled completely.

Please let it be known that this is all rumor and speculation at this point. No matter how much inside info one may have, nothing is set in stone until Disney officially says it.

For those wondering about the details of Star Wars Land at Disneyland, here are just a few of the discussed possibilities:

  • Astro Orbiter to be temporarily removed and eventually brought back in with a Star Wars theme and placed on an upper-level building near Space Mountain.
  • Re-imagining and redesigning the exteriors of all buildings in Tomorrowland
  • Millenium Falcon walk-thru on the old PeopleMover platform
  • Possible Tatooine cantina taking the place of Tomorrowland Terrace
  • Speeded bike ride through an Ewok Village to replace Autopia

Freeze! Hold on there! Enough of that! I bet they would scrap that plan too, due to budjett issues. So, that’s a no-go.

For a good while I’ve been upset over the idea that new Star Wars Land at Hollywood Studios was not in the works for WDW. BUT!!! What if the new game plan is to let there be multiple Star Wars attractions at multiple parks in Florida? What if the old Captain EO 3D movie is replaced with a new Star Wars themed 3D show? (with Stunts and lasers, please). Then what if Hollywood Studio does get the Cantina and another E Ticket Star Wars ride (like the Tron Cycle ride they are currently developing overseas). What if Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom gets the M. Falcon walk through with multiple sensory effects!!!

I’d honestly be pretty happy. . . Why not let Disney diversify the brand to multiple parks? That’d help boost attendance at multiple parks!
