Stronger Security Begins Today At Disneyland Resort – New Checkpoints Added At Downtown Disney

Many have been asking for it, and now, Disney is doing it. Starting on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, there will be stronger and additional security at the Disneyland Resort. Not only will security checkpoints be near the entrances of the two theme parks, but they’ll be at the entrances of Downtown Disney as well.

According to the OC Register, anyone looking to enter Downtown Disney will now have to go through security screenings. This change is being made in order to secure a larger area and to also keep Guests from having to go through metal detectors and bag checks on multiple occasions.

Before Thursday, the only security checkpoints were on both sides of the Esplanade where Guests have access to purchase tickets and enter both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks.

Those heading into the Disneyland Resort on the west side – including those coming from the Disneyland Hotel, parking lot for Downtown Disney, or the Mickey and Friends parking garage – will go through security prior to reaching Downtown Disney or boarding trams to the theme parks.

The security checkpoints on the east side are expected to move once the new parking garage is completed.

It is not yet known or confirmed if these new security measures and checkpoints will be coming to Disney Springs at Walt Disney World. It’s rather expected if these new measures prove to work well at Disneyland.

It’s a sad time when Disneyland and others have to resort to this, but I like a lot of others, want nothing but to feel safe.
