Everyone has been waiting for more information on the opening of Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and finally, we have it. We’ve only been told that the new land will be opening in “2017,” but at least now, we have something a bit more concrete.
The Disney Parks Blog has revealed that Pandora – The World of Avatar is set for an opening date at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in “summer 2017.”
While that isn’t an exact date, it is something a bit more organized to let everyone know the time of year it will open. The huge new land is being built where the old Camp Minnie-Mickey section used to be and well beyond that as well.
Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek also released a new image from the land which is set to open in summer of 2017. The image shows the entry bridge which will connect Pandora with the rest of Animal Kingdom.
According to the storyline developed by Walt Disney Imagineering and Lightstorm Entertainment, this bridge was built during a time when a destructive company called the RDA came to Pandora. Now that they’re long gone, nature is breaking down evidence of their presence. This bridge will soon serve as an entry into the base camp of Alpha Centauri Expeditions, the eco-tour group that is preparing Pandora for future explorers and adventure seekers.
Other new images were released in the form of concept art and they give Guests a great look at what is coming next year. At the top of this article is Pongu Pongu which is a unique beverage location in Pandora.
Below is the Satu’li Canteen which is set to be the main dining location in Pandora. It will feature the art and cultural items of the Na’vi. Details such as quick or table service, dining credits, and the menu have not yet been released.
The image below is of the merchandise location for Pandora that will be called Windtraders. In this destination, Guests will find science kits, toys, cultural items, and more.
