It appears as if the food at the Jungle Cruise-themed Skipper Canteen restaurant in Magic Kingdom hasn’t actually appealed to the masses. The restaurant itself is going to stay the same, but its unique food choices will change as the menu is going to get an overhaul.

After having spoken with a couple of Cast Members, it appears the full-on change coming to Skipper Canteen isn’t entirely true. Apparently, Disney is looking at implementing some new items to the menu, but not giving it an entire overhaul. Some of the more unpopular items being changed out for new offerings, but not a total scrap and redo.
It’s also being said that Tiffins is not getting some of the cast-off offerings from Skipper Canteen. That restaurant at Animal Kingdom will offer similar choices, but at a signature table-service level.
So, the menu of Skipper Canteen is being “refreshed,” but not scrapped and totally changed. No word yet on when that is coming, but it’s in the works.

When the new table-service restaurant opened back in December, many were pleased with the wide range of different foods on the menu. Unfortunately, that happiness has not spread out to everyone and it’s calling for a change.
Guests are not overly thrilled with the menu, and many just aren’t eating there after word of mouth has said how different it is. This has led to Skipper Canteen not being nearly as popular or busy as it was when it opened just a few short months ago.
It’s not known when, but Cast Members at Skipper Canteen have been informed that the menu is going to be changing, and it will likely be soon.
According to WDWNT, almost the entire menu will change with the current dishes either disappearing completely or moving to other dining locations around Walt Disney World. Tiffins restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will get the head-on shrimp dish (Trader Sam’s Head-on Shrimp).
