Disney officially announced that Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show would be closing as of April 2, 2016. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is undergoing a lot of changes with its upcoming expansion, and now one big rumor floating around is that the Earful Tower will soon be removed as well.
UPDATE: It has been confirmed that these changes will be coming.
On Friday morning, the Disney Parks Blog confirmed the closing of Lights, Motors, Action!:
“We wanted to let you know that Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show and nearby locations around Streets of America will be closing on April 2, 2016.”
Well, now there is a report going around that those “nearby locations” include the Earful Tower and a host of other things.
According to an unconfirmed report from the Orlando Sentinel, the Earful Tower is going to be taken down and removed, but there is no date set for that as of now.
The report goes on to state the April 2 closing date of Lights, Motors, Action! also includes the closing of:
- Studio Catering Co. restaurant
- Monsters Inc. Meet-and-Greet with Mike and Sulley
- Honey, I Shrunk The Kids Movie Set Adventure
WDWNT goes on to say that these locations will be closing at the same time.
- Youse Guys Mochindise location on New York Street
- The Prop Shop
- Watto’s Grotto merchandise location
- Streets of America
Now, it is expected that the majority of the New York Street/Streets of America area was/is going to close due to construction starting and happening on the Star Wars-themed land and Toy Story Land.
As of now, Disney has not confirmed any of the above information EXCEPT for the closing of Lights, Motors, Action! Again, confirmation could come at any time or it may not at all, but until Disney officially announces it, then it is not 100 percent confirmed.
It appears as if MuppetVision 3D is safe at this time.
Word is going around though that notice has been given to Cast Members as of this morning that these closings will be going down. The only thing that can be done is to wait for an official public announcement from Disney on the Earful Tower and other locations.
