There is another big-time dining location coming to the ever-growing Disney Springs, and it’s going to be called Homecoming: Florida Kitchen and Southern Shine, and it’s coming from celebrity Chef Art Smith.
Chef Art Smith is a Florida native and spent many years as Oprah Winfrey’s personal chef. He also has had numerous appearances on Iron Chef America, Top Chef, and Top Chef Masters.
Homecoming will be Disney’s first farm-to-fork restaurant and will concentrate on the diverse agriculture and culinary heritage of Florida. The Orlando Sentinel had more on the story.
“The menu is a big part of my ongoing homage to Florida’s bygone era,” the Florida native said in a prepared statement to be released today. Guests can expect Southern favorites such as homemade pimento cheese, deviled eggs, low-country shrimp and grits, and a grilled blackstrap pork chop with sawmill gravy. The “majority of our seafood, produce, poultry and beef will be from local farms, ranches or fisheries,” Smith said
Homecoming will seat 200 Guests and is the second big star-power chef restaurant. Art Smith’s restaurant will join the recently opened Morimoto Asia which came from Chef Masaharu Morimoto of Japanese Iron Chef fame.
Cocktails, home cooking, and desserts will be a big part of Art Smith’s Homecoming as well
