DisneyQuest Reportedly To Close To Make Way For NBA Experience In 2016

disneyquest nba experienceIt looks as if the complete remodeling and transformation into Disney Springs is really making some changes. As of now, DisneyQuest is going to be closing sometime in 2016 and it will be replaced by the brand new NBA Experience, which was announced earlier this month.

Per the Orlando Sentinel, the 100,000-square foot giant arcade and virtual reality center will be going away.

Ed Chambers, president of the Service Trades Council coalition of Disney unions has said that those working at DisneyQuest will have new jobs made available to them.

DisneyQuest opened on Disney’s West Side back in 1998.

The NBA Experience was first announced back in early June by the Disney Parks Blog, and is a huge partnership for Disney.

The NBA Experience at Walt Disney World Resort is going to be a one-of-a-kind destination featuring hands-on activities that put families and guests of all ages right in the middle of NBA game action. You’ll be able to explore inside the world of professional basketball with numerous interactive experiences and enjoy a restaurant and retail store.

There is no set date for DisneyQuest, and Disney has made no official announcement as well. Per Cast Members at DisneyQuest, as of June 29, 2015, the Annual Pass for DisneyQuest was discontinued.

  1. Noooo!!! I love CyberSpace Mtn and the pirates attractions. hopefully Disney Quest won’t close before I get down there to ride those two things again.

  2. Why! I can’t think of any NBA team or specific player which I would consider to be a family-friendly representation of the NBA. The NBA is filled with athletes that show no respect to society families or social norms. So Disney wants to embrace teaching kids to carry guns shoot the girlfriends do drugs and just have a general disrespect for polite society. Great choice Disney…NOT!

  3. What company is handling the media platforms involved with the new NBA Experience? Who could I connect with in reference to being a supplier of your multi-media: virtual/augmented reality, 360-degree/full-immersion, motion capture, projections mapping, etc.?

We want the NBA Experience to be a slam dunk for Disney!
