A number of Guests who will be traveling to Walt Disney World soon have started receiving emails to test a new “Express Order” dining experience. It will happen at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and will actually even be available during Fantasmic!
From April 28 – May 12, 2015, Guests can be a part of the pre-ordering test with an app called “Express Order” which can be downloaded to your Apple or Android device. Guests will then have the ability to pre-order meals on-the-go for Backlot Express and Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Upon downloading the app, Guests will be able to pre-order their food and beverages (and merchandise at Fantasmic!) which will be prepared fresh.
The pre-ordering at Backlot Express will happen in two different tests.
- April 28 – May 4, 2015: Guests can pre-order from the Express Order app and pick up their food at the counter for dine-in or get it in a to-go bag.
- May 5 – May 12, 2015: Guests can pre-order from the Express Order app and have it ready for pick-up in a bag to take it out or have the order delivered to them at their table.
For Fantasmic!, the test will take place for the full duration of dates but, it will only be for the first performance of the show on nights when there are two.
Guests can simply pre-order the food from the Express Order app and a Cast Member will deliver it to them in their seat.
For this Express Order test, a valid email address and credit card number will be necessary. Cash and the Disney Dining Plan will not be accepted during this test.
