‘Toy Story 4’ Will Not Continue Story From Trilogy – Will Be A Romantic Comedy

Toy Story 4When Toy Story 4 was announced back in November, the world collectively lost its mind. Now, they may do it again as it has been announced that the film will not actually be a direct sequel to Toy Story 3, and that it will instead be a romantic comedy.

Pixar President Jim Morris has revealed that Toy Story 4 will only have small ties to the original trilogy. The current plan is to actually make the film a romantic comedy of sorts, and there won’t be a whole lot of human and toy interaction.

“I think this movie is not part of this trilogy. It is a separate story, which in turn, I do not know it will be continued…It is not a continuation of the end of the story of Toy Story 3,” Morris told Disney Latino. “The third movie was over in a beautiful way and completed a trilogy.”

From there, Morris went on to say that Toy Story 4 won’t begin a new trilogy or develop a new franchise either. He says that it will most likely stay as a standalone film for the time being.

Don’t think this is set in stone though.

The film doesn’t actually hit theaters for another two years and development is still in the works so things could change. A table read of the script is scheduled for sometime in the next few days so maybe more will be known soon.

Toy Story 4 will be hitting theaters on June 16, 2017, and some of the original cast is said to be returning. John Lasseter will be stepping in to sit back in the director’s chair.
