A new version of DuckTales will be coming and it will begin in 2017 on Disney XD. The network said on Wednesday that the new animated comedy series will be based on the Emmy Award-winning series that aired in the late 80s.
DuckTales will once again star Scrooge McDuck as he’s joined by his grandnephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie. It is expected that Donald Duck will also be present along with some of these fan favorites:
- Launchpad McQuack
- Magica DeSpell and Poe
- The Beagle Boys and Ma Beagle
- Webbigail Vanderquack
- Mrs. Beakley
- Duckworth
- Gyro Gearloose
- Flintheart Glomgold
Knowing that Gyro is in it, we can only hope that Fenton Crackshell aka Gizmoduck ends up in the new Duckburg as well.
Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President of Programming and General Manager for Disney knows how much this means to so many people.
“DuckTales has a special place in Disney’s TV animation history, it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks’ comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation.”
One can only hope that a full reboot of “The Disney Afternoon” would come with it and include Darkwing Duck, Tale Spin, and Chip and Dale’s Rescue Rangers, but no word on that.
Let’s also hope that the new DuckTales will bring back the very familiar and awesome theme.
