As first revealed back in late October, the Sorcerer’s Hat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios was on the outs. It was also revealed that it would be taken out beginning after the new year, but now we know when it’s all going to begin.
The removal of the Sorcerer’s Hat is set to begin on Jan. 7, 2015, and it’s being said that work will be done in phases.
Not a whole lot of other details have been revealed as to how quickly it will be taken down and all of that. If you’re looking to get pics of it though, you’ve got less than a week remaining.
Work permits for the work to be done to remove the Sorcerer’s Hat were filed in November of 2014.
For those wondering, the pin store that was located underneath the Sorcerer’s Hat? It won’t be going away completely.
The pin store is going to be relocated to the Sunset Ranch over on Sunset Blvd.
The Sorcerer’s Hat was put in place in 2001 and became the icon for Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Before that, the icon switched around between the Great Movie Ride, Tower of Terror, and Earful Tower.
Disney merchandise for 2015 has so far has shown the Earful Tower and Tower of Terror as the icon. With the update and TCM deal coming for the Great Movie Ride, it looks as if a lot of choices are there for when the Sorcerer’s Hat is gone soon.
