Apple Pay Coming to Walt Disney World As Part Of MyMagic+

Apple had some huge announcements on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, and it included the announcement of the iPhone 6, but there’s much more. Two new products will be coming to consumers and they are the Apple Watch and Apple Pay. Making things better is that there will be a Disney connection in both.

Apple Pay Disney

While the Apple Watch may seem self-explanatory, there is so much more to it than it seems and so much more to do with Disney.

By Christmas of this year, Apple Pay will come into play at Disney Store locations and Walt Disney World as well. Apple Pay will allow those with an iPhone 6 to use the phones as a form of payment. Guests will be able to hold their iPhone 6 devices up to registers and automatically pay for purchases with Apple Pay.

“Apple Pay makes shopping fast and easy for guests and simplifies the check-out process for our cast members,” a Walt Disney Co. spokesperson said. “Our guests are going to love the convenience of Apple Pay, which will bring an easy, secure and private way to make purchases at Disney Store and Walt Disney World Resort.”

Their credit card numbers are going to be stored in the memory and touch-technology of their phones and it’s actually a continuation of MyMagic+. With the MagicBands being a full-on touch-to-use experience, the same is now going to be done with Apple Pay.

It’s also being seen as an added extra measure of security:

“When you’re using Apple Pay in a store, restaurant or other merchant, cashiers will no longer see your name, credit card number or security code, helping to reduce the potential for fraud,” Eddie Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, said.

The Apple Watch, which will have some Disney features, will also have Apple Pay. It’s set to be released to the public sometime in 2015 for a price of $349. Those that want to use the Apple Watch will have to link it to an iPhone 5 or higher.

The old-school Mickey Mouse watch emblem will be one of 18 options that wearers can have featured on the Apple Watch.
