Full Review of Mickey’s Not So-Scary Halloween Party 2014: Club Villain, Character Spots, Boo To You, HalloWishes, More

Mickey's Not-So-Scary 2014The very first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of 2014 took place at the Magic Kingdom on the evening of Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, and Doctor Disney was there to experience all the old and new things that took place. There was of course the Boo To You Parade and HalloWishes, but new additions such as Club Villain and the Monstrous Scream-O-Ween Ball. It was a great night and here is your full review with lots of info, pics, and videos.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary was quite perfect and an excellent as always. Lines for the characters were very short and there were plenty of them all around the park. The longest line, by far, was that for Jack and Sally, and it was normally around 30 minutes all night. Characters did not sign autographs and it kept lines going quickly.

While many may already know the gist of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary, here are some specific observations from this year:

  • Even though originally stated to have Maleficent and The Queen in Princess Fairytale Hall, that was quietly rescinded by Disney. Fairytale Hall was left as it normally is with Cinderella and Rapunzel on one side while Anna and Elsa were on the other. Wait times averaged between 10-30 minutes throughout the party.
  • There were no roaming characters, but many placed throughout the park. Lines were short all night and the longest one (aside from Jack and Sally) was 10 minutes.
  • Club Villain  is phenomenal. It’s a dance party located inside The Diamond Horseshoe, and it has four to five Disney Villains present at any time. It’s really a lot of fun inside there.
  • The Villains Mix-and-Mingle Stage Show was short, but fun.
  • Trick-or-Treat locations are also spread throughout the park, and there was a lot of candy being given out. A lot.
  • Merchandise was plentiful, and the limited edition MagicBands were being sold and automatically linked to park tickets, Memory Makers.
  • The first Boo To You Parade (8:15 p.m.) was packed as expected, but the second one (10:30 p.m.) was almost deserted. Great viewing for Celebrate the Magic and HalloWishes was plentiful and easy to get.
  • Attraction wait times were virtually nothing.
  • Halloween music was played throughout the park and there are characters dancing and having a great time in their various locations.
  • The Monstrous Scream-O-Ween Ball was held at the Tomorrowland stage, and it included characters from “Monsters Inc.” dancing and partying with guests.

Character Locations – Note that not all characters were out for the full duration of the party

  • Minnie and Daisy – Together outside of Dumbo: The Flying Elephant
  • Goofy and Donald – Outside of Barnstormer / Often times they would go into Pete’s Silly Sideshow and help hand out candy
  • Jack and Sally – Next to City Hall on Main Street U.S.A.
  • Jasmine, Genie, and Aladdin (switching out) – In Agrabah and inside next to Aloha Isle, two characters would usually be present at a time
  • Jane, Tarzan, and Terk (switching out) – Next to the old Tinkerbell’s Nook in Adventureland, two characters would usually be present at a time
  • Jack Sparrow – On the Pirate Tutorial stage in Adventureland
  • Buzz Lightyear and Lotso – Buzz’s meet-and-greet location in Tomorrowland
  • Queen of Hearts, Alice, Mad Hatter (switching out) – Next to Mad Tea Party, two characters would usually be present at a time
  • Seven Dwarfs – All together by the new castle walls across from Pinocchio’s
  • Snow White, Aurora – By the new castle walls
  • The Witch – By the entrance of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • Gaston – By Gaston’s Tavern

Some other characters were out and about as well at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary, but just get a guide map for all their locations.

Merchandise Locations – This merchandise is only available at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Parties

  • Emporium – Here you can get T-shirts, trading pins, and the limited edition MagicBands. Shirts are plentiful and the pins are behind the cash wraps.
  • Mickey’s Star Traders – T-shirts and trading pins
  • Frontier Trading Post – Trading pins

All in all, it was an absolutely great event that was lots of fun, well organized, no hassle, no stress, and just awesome. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is well worth the price of admission and you really should take part in it if you get the chance.

Comments

  1. I have a question about the merchandise, particularly shirts. The last party we went to 2 years ago, we were there when the shirts came out at 7. I was at the rack and this woman stepped in front of me and picked up an arm full of shirts, all sizes, and walked away. Left half the rack empty in less than a minute. When I started to pick one up, someone tried to grab it out of my hand. I hat to politely tell her it was in MY hand. When another rack came out later, pretty much the same thing. Long way of getting to the question, but are they putting any limits on how many shirts you can purchase at once?

    Thank you
