Soarin’ Expansion At Epcot Appears To Be Moving Forward

A couple of months ago, there were rumors that Soarin’ was being expanded over at Epcot and that a third theater was going to soon be built. Well, it certainly now appears as if that may be the case since some work has started happening behind the Land Pavilion, and while nothing is confirmed…it certainly does appear as if something may be starting.

Orlando Parks News reported that they got good word from sources that work behind the current Soarin’ building has begun. Looking at the following image, you can see some trailers boxed off in blue and a small green area patched in yellow.

Soarin' mapApparently, those containers have now been removed, and that whole area has been cleared out immediately behind Soarin.

The area marked in yellow is where some utility flags have recently been placed, and that’s a sure sign that something is indeed being done. What exactly is being done remains to be seen, but it certainly adds a little more validity to the rumors of Soarin’s third theater being built.

Filming has already been happening for a brand new film in Soarin’ that would be “Soarin’ Around the World” and not just over parts of California. Maybe the film will be released in conjunction with a new theater.

Or maybe…maybe they’re just doing some cleaning up back there. Only time will tell until Disney officially announces something.

This is a rumor that just makes sense. Expanding capacity on a premiere attraction will help a lot. I just wish they’d resurrect a classic or launch something new as well.
