Back Rows of Pirates of the Caribbean Boats Roped Off At Multiple Disney Parks

Pirates of the Caribbean back rowAfter the incident in which a male guest lost the tips of his fingertips while riding on Pirates of the Caribbean at the Magic Kingdom, there appears to be some concern by Disney officials due to safety. There have been multiple reports of the back rows of the Pirates of the Caribbean boats being roped off and guests not allowed in them while things are checked out further.

Apparently, this is going on at multiple parks as well.

In the past week or so, I’ve personally ridden Pirates of the Caribbean here at Walt Disney World twice. The back row was not roped off one time yet it was another time, and it was visible on multiple boats.

Reports have come forth that the back rows of the Pirates’ boats in the attractions in Disneyland and Disneyland Paris have been roped off as well. There’s been no word on Tokyo Disneyland at this time.

Word is that this is due to the situation with the guest and his lost fingertips on Pirates of the Caribbean back in early June. Word has it that’s where the guest was sitting when the accident occurred.

There was also a confirmed report that a 12-year-old guest had been injured while riding Pirates of the Caribbean earlier in the year as well.

While I can’t confirm the back row being roped off at least once at Magic Kingdom personally; others have advised me of it at times. There has been no actual report from Disney as to why this is being done other than “maintenance.”

Even with multiple written and verbal safety warnings, Disney does want to make sure that every precaution imaginable is taken to keep guest’s safety as the utmost priority.

Oh, by the way…the gentleman who lost his fingertips on Pirates? I was advised by a source that the fingertips were eventually found.
