Kona Island at Disney’s Polynesian Village To Close For Refurbishment

Polynesian Kona IslandIt’s time to add one more section of Disney’s Polynesian Resort to the closed for refurbishment list as a major renovation continues. Kona Island is going to be closed for refurbishment for about a month and a half starting very soon.

The small quick service location on the second floor of the Poly is going to be closing on Aug. 8, 2014, and through Sept. 30, 2014. It is tentatively scheduled to reopen to guests on Oct. 1, 2014.

Kona Island has a wide array of great pastries and coffee that they sell during the morning hours.

In the evening, Kona Island would change over and sell sushi that has been called some of the best on all  of Disney property.

This is just one of many refurbishment closings that is in place as the Disney Vacation Club is being put into the Poly as well as a major overhaul in the main building.

Kona Island being closed is now added to the major lobby refurbishment and the closing of the Nanea Volcano Pool, the original Capt’ Cook’s quick-service, Trader Jack’s merchandise store, and the Barefoot Bay Pool Bar.

It’s a lot of work being done all around.

There has been no official word as to what is being done to Kona Island, but it will be interesting to see after the refurbishment.
