Report: New Standby Line Procedure Being Tested For Anna and Elsa, Soarin’

Anna Elsa standbyWe all know that the standby wait times for some Walt Disney World attractions are off the charts, and that especially holds true for meeting Anna and Elsa at Princess Fairytale Hall. Well, a new report out states that Disney is testing a new standby procedure to shorten those wait times for guests.

According to the TemporaryTourist, a new standby system will be tested with seeing Anna and Elsa at Princess Fairytale Hall.

Starting at the park opening at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, July 23rd, Cast Members will allow guests to fill the standby line to its capacity, which is the shield just on the outside of the Hall.  Once full, the line to Anna and Elsa will be considered closed.  Guests who arrive after the line has been filled will be directed to Magic Kingdom Park Support, who will be located on the other side of the Courtyard Carrousel.  Each guest will receive a pass with a comeback time on a “first come first serve” basis.  The comeback time printed on each ticket will have a 30 minute window in which to return and enter the standby line to see Anna and Elsa.  Once a guest has come back to Princess Fairy Tall Hall and enters the line, Disney expects the maximum wait to approximately 30 minutes.

According to the report, this test will also be done for Soarin’ at Epcot and one other attraction, believed to be either Toy Story Mania or Test Track.

Reports state that the initial standby testing is going to last just three days. It will begin on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, and run through Friday, July 25, 2014. As of now, further testing is not expected until later notice.

FASTPass+ reservations will still be in play as usual, and guests can get one through the My Disney Experience app or in-park kiosks.

It is also being said that DAS cards will still work during this testing, but DAS users will not enter the standby line upon their return. They will still be directed to the FASTPass entrance.

Reports state that only 80 of the standby passes will be handed out per hour for the testing days. Once all standby passes have been distributed, there will be no more for the day. Once they are gone, that also means no other guests will be allowed to enter the line to see Anna and Elsa.

For those that think this sounds familiar, well, it is.

Disney is currently running this standby system with the “For The First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration” during the Frozen Summer Fun – LIVE at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

At this time, only three attractions are said to be taking part in this standby line test, and it is a limited-time test.

Once I’m able to get there and check it out personally, I’ll relay more information.

Hi, have you been able to test this out yourself? How did it go? I’ve been trying to get FF+ for this for Sept + I can’t! All times are filled! How can you actually get a FF+ at a kiosk there or on your app? Thanks!

    • I used it for Anna and Elsa, and it worked just fine. Problem is that it was just a three-day test and won’t come back again until Disney puts it in place. By September, it could be, but there is no confirmation on that yet.

The only way to get a FP+ reservation for Anna and Elsa is to get it at the earliest possible time and luck out. That’s simply it.
