Disney’s PhotoPass print packages, table-side sales to be done by end of July

Disney's PhotoPassFor those that love Disney’s PhotoPass, there are some changes heading your way and they are all going to start near the end of this month. The PhotoPass print packages and table-side sales at Disney restaurants will soon be discontinued.

The changes will take place by July 27, 2014, at:

  • 1900 Park Fare
  • Chef Mickey’s
  • Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue
  • Tusker House
  • Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show
  • ‘Ohana

The PhotoPass print packages will still be available at Cinderella’s Royal Table and Akershus until Jan. 4, 2015. As of Jan. 5, 2015, those print packages will be discontinued as well.

That also happens to be the exact same day that Cinderella’s Royal Table will be closing for a very lengthy refurbishment.

As Disney keeps gearing everything toward My Disney Experience, MyMagic+, and the MagicBands, this should come as no big surprise. Once the PhotoPass print package and table-side sales are discontinued, guests can still get their PhotoPass photos via MDE.

Be warned, there is still an expiration date on them (usually 45 days), but you’ll get an email when your PhotoPass photos are set to expire soon.

Comments

  1. Both the Royal Table and Akershus include the photo with the meal cost. Are they removing that or will it be still included just digital now?

    • As of Jan. 5, 2015, the inclusive photo package option will also be discontinued. Disney has not released any more info than that at this time.

      • Thanks for the update. Glad we have Akershus booked this summer for our daughter and will get the free photo.

I picked up Memory Maker for my trip in December. It would be nice if they had photographers at the character meals. I’ll cope, but I’d rather be in the picture than taking it.

I’m still wondering if the new Photopass will ship a photo DVD
rather then simply letting you perform a download from home ? Quite a few people use tablets and smart phones without the
ability to download to a DVD. No one has answered this question to my satisfaction. In the past, the DVD was mailed to my home. Thanks for any help concerning this issue.

    • There is no confirmation, but I’ve heard from a number of people associated with the project that the DVDs/CDs are going to eventually go away entirely.

    • You can opt to purchase a dvd of the pics for an additional 20 dollars I believe. But otherwise it’s all digital downloads.

  4. I am a little confused. Will there be no more pictures taken at all or will they still be taken but will be download only and not printed for you?

  5. What a shame for the discontinuation of ones that came with the meal (Arkhus). It was our favorite of all the pictures we took (or photopass people took) the entire trip. I do hate the other restaurants that come around and ask if you want to purchase, but with ARkhus and CRT we’ve already purchased them in our dining package!
