About a week ago, the merchandise for the 25th anniversary of Disney’s Hollywood Studios was revealed, and it looks pretty awesome and classic. Now, many have been asking me if there will be anything special for the 25th anniversary on May 1, 2014, and now Disney has revealed that there will be.
Formerly Disney-MGM Studios, – and it still is to me – the park will officially celebrate its 25th anniversary and they are going to do it in a host of ways.
The name was officially changed to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2008, but many old-school fans still think of it in the old fashion.
Below is a schedule of the events and everything (time and entertainment) is subject to change.
- At 10:00 a.m., Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will take the stage with Disney’s Hollywood Studios Vice President Dan Cockerell to start the celebration day, honoring some of the 25-year cast members during a short rededication ceremony.
- A special motorcade — “Stars of the Studios” — will make its way down Hollywood Blvd. beginning at 7:00 p.m. and feature many of the famous characters showcased throughout the park. Mickey and Minnie will be joined by television and film stars including Captain Jack Sparrow, Darth Vader, Doc McStuffins, Wreck-It Ralph, Venellope, Sofia the First and more.
- Following the motorcade, the area in front of the park’s Sorcerer Hat Stage will become a dance party before a fireworks show ends the day in grand fashion at 9:30 p.m. The pyrotechnics show, which will be high in the sky above the Sorcerer Mickey Hat, will pay tribute to 25 years of show business stories that have been told throughout the park.
The merchandise for the 25th anniversary of Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be sold on that day while supplies last so you’d better get it quick. There will also be a 25th Anniversary Chocolate Nutella Cupcake sold at numerous quick service locations in the park throughout the day.
