Five Things That A Disney Know-It-All Says, But Really Shouldn’t

Disney Know-It-AllDoctor Disney is someone that has worked for the Walt Disney Company on a number of occasions, and he runs a very good site here, and he’s been incredibly kind enough to let me state my feelings once in a while. As I’ve said before in my piece about Disney World raising ticket prices, I go to the Disney Parks a lot, but that doesn’t stop my family from learning and we certainly aren’t all Disney Know-It-Alls.

Now, hear me out on this one.

There are those that know a lot about Disney and can even be considered a Disney Expert or yes, a Disney Know-It-All. There are a lot of people on Doctor Disney’s Facebook Page that know a ton about Disney, and I’m actually on that page, but choose to read more than respond.

The same goes for a number of other Disney Facebook groups and even Disney forums and message boards around the Internet.

It is truly hard to believe some of the things that people say on Disney message boards. The hate they spout forth about the places they supposedly love. The cruelty they speak to other users and forumers who may not know as much about Disney or may not be able to vacation there as much.

People are just downright mean sometimes, but the funnier thing is those that aren’t people who know a lot about Disney, but the Disney Know-It-Alls. This is how I define one:

Disney Know-It-All – noun – One that insists they know every single thing about Disney including the parks, movies, characters, history, and more. They are never wrong and should not be challenged because they will berate you, degrade you, and make themselves look even more ridiculous.

With that, let’s see five examples of things that I’ve seen said around the Disney Internet that should never have been said, and my thoughts on them:

1.) “If you don’t want to wait five hours, then you’ve got to book FASTPasses for Anna and Elsa at least six months in advance. The moment you hit those 180 days, book your dining and your FASTPasses like I did.”

Disney In Disguise: Funny. The furthest out that anyone can book a FASTPass+ reservation is 60 days prior to arrival, and that is for Disney Resort guests. Someone tried to tell this Disney Know-It-All that, but she proclaimed they were wrong, and could “just miss out on seeing Anna and Elsa then” since she will miss her 180-day mark.

2.) “You can bring anything you want up to the RapidFill drink machines in the resorts. Disney managers always turn them off and my family is just going to bring our old mugs and fill them up as we please.”

Disney In Disguise: Let me know how that works for you when you end up not being able to fill a single mug and have to go buy new ones.

3.) “There is nothing at Epcot for younger children. It’s a park that is strictly made for adults and it is best if you don’t waste a ticket day at that park if you’re going to have younger children with you.”

Disney In Disguise: That’s quite shocking to hear from this Disney Know-It-All. My children (ages 8 and 5) absolutely love Epcot. So do my nieces who are 11 and 7, but I should have known better than to take them somewhere that has the Fab Five, Disney Princesses, Figment, Crush, Soarin’, and ways to better their minds.

4.) “Getting Disney Dining is easy. If you start searching and find there aren’t tables for your party of say…six, for example? Just make a reservation for a party of five and then show up with your party of six. Disney has to accommodate you.”

Disney In Disguise: Come on, Disney Know-It-All. Disney doesn’t try to stop people from eating at their dining locations by having you put in the number of guests in your party. They still have to abide by laws and fire codes. The number of guests seated at each table on a busy day or night can add up to the maximum amount of people allowed in the building by law. They don’t have to let you do anything.

5.) “Going to Walt Disney World outside of the summer and avoiding holidays will let you have the park to yourselves. There is no-one in the parks during that time so definitely plan your trips during the off season.”

Disney In Disguise: What do you think the off-season is, you Disney Know-It-All? You’re going to take it upon yourself to tell a person when they should “definitely” book their trip because you insist there are no crowds except during summer and holidays?

Perhaps you’ve forgotten about Disney Marathons, cheerleading competitions, Star Wars Weekends, Halloween parties that run for two months, dance competitions, Christmas parties that run for two months, and schools from across the country don’t always break at the same time.

Whew………..ok, I’m done.

Forgive me if I’m sounding mean here, but there’s just no way I can handle the all of the Disney Know-It-All people, and how cruel they are to others. Disney is for anyone and everyone.

Those that head to Disney websites love Disney.

Many that go to Disney websites and message boards are asking for legit help in making the most of their sometimes once-in-a-lifetime vacation.

They don’t need to be ridiculed, told off, treated rudely, and especially not told information that is wrong. Maybe you aren’t a Disney Know-It-All and don’t know the answers they seek…but then don’t answer or try to find the correct one.

Don’t be a Disney Know-It-All just because you want to seem cool. Be a Disney Know-It-All if you can help others enjoy the magic that it brings.

  2. I am sooo glad someone posted on this topic. Although i do have a very broad knowledge of all things disney and being a cast member, doesn’t mean i know everything about disney. This company is always changing. I hate overhearing conversations in an attraction queue like this. I literally step into the conversation if i know the Disney-Know-It-All is wrong. It’s a pet peeve to most cast members since the majority have been with the company for years.
