Monorail Yellow broke down on the evening of Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, as it was going from Epcot over to Magic Kingdom. The breakdown happened around 5:45 p.m. and guests were said to have been stuck on it for around three hours.

It appears as if the electrical system had shut down and the Disney Monorail was just not going anywhere. It was stuck in place and that was it. The Monorail eventually had to be towed over to the Transportation and Ticket Center where guests were taken off.

Reedy Creek Fire Department had fire trucks, ambulances, and other emergency services on the scene to treat guests as and if needed.

Rumors had gone around that guests were being evacuated from the Monorail by fire truck ladders, but that did not end up being the case. As you can see in the pics, the Monorail was being towed back to TTC and guests are still on it.

After guests were let off at TTC, the Monorail was then towed through Disney’s Contemporary Resort and to the Monorail garage.

There are no reports of any injuries.

The World Drive entrance into Epcot had been shut down for a while as the situation was taken care of.
