Doctor Disney Explains: What is Epcot’s Candlelight Processional?

There has been a lot of talk going on lately as most everyone is awaiting the release of the “Celebrity Narrators” list for the 2013 Epcot Candlelight Processional. With that being said though, there are a lot of people that don’t even know what it is.

With that, Doctor Disney Explains is here to tell all.

Every year, Epcot brings the spirit of Christmas to the park with more than just decorations. Over in the America Gardens Theatre at the America Pavilion in World Showcase, a wonderfully incredible show happens almost nightly after Thanksgiving and through Christmas.

It is called the Candlelight Processional.

Here is how Disney describes it:

The rich sounds of the full orchestra and choir fill the theatre as a special guest narrator takes the stage. Let the story of the babe in a manger touch your heart as it has for generations, accompanied by warm and inspiring holiday music.

In the wintertime, Holidays Around The World transforms Epcot into an international celebration of Yuletide traditions filled with festive decorations and live entertainment. A special event that’s part of the festivities, the processional is a wonderful way to share the magic of the season with your family and friends! For many Guests, the processional has become an essential family tradition.

The narrators that have read the story include Neil Patrick Harris, Jodi Benson, Marlee Matlin, Gary Sinise, and so many more.

It truly is a sight to see, hear, and experience. But it fills up quickly and if you don’t show up very early…you could be left out.  For those wanting a little more and to make sure they get in, there are the Candlelight Processional Dinner Packages.

With this, you make a reservation for a dinner package and have lunch or dinner at a restaurant somewhere in Epcot. After that, you’ll receive your passes for guaranteed seating and VIP viewing of the Illuminations fireworks show that evening.

Your passes will tell you which of the three Candlelight Processional showings to go to (which you chose when making a reservation), and guarantee you pretty good seats inside.

Let me tell you…this is an event you do not want to miss if you’re going to be at Walt Disney World during the holidays. It’s a true Christmas spectacle that you will all love.
