Doctor Disney Explains: What are Disney pin codes? How can you get one?

Recently, Doctor Disney let it be known that rumors are swirling about Free Disney Dining being extended into the fall and winter months of this year. Those rumors come from dates that some guests have been getting through their Disney pin codes, and that means…wait, pin codes?

What’s a Disney pin code, you ask?

Well, let Doctor Disney Explain.

In a nutshell, a Disney Pin Code is one of the most coveted discounts known to man…even if the same discount does usually come out later for other guests. Pin codes allow guests to use that discount before anyone else has the ability to do so, and therefore guarantee that they will be eligible for it.

Disney PIN (Personal Identification Numbers) or “Unique Offer Codes” can end up being for room discounts, ticket discounts, free dining, and a host of other things.

If you are wondering if you’ve got a Disney pin code, contact Disney and simply ask them if you’ve got one attached to your name. If you do, you’ll be advised of exactly what your pin code discount is and when you can use it. Remember these important things though:

  • Disney pin codes are non-transferable
  • The guest’s name that the pin code is assigned to must be traveling with the party on the trip
  • A Disney pin code can be used for up to three rooms, but again, the guest assigned to the pin must be there

Let it be known that the handing out of Disney pin codes is extremely random. A lot of people will tell you that there are certain ways to up your chances in receiving one, and that’s only about one percent true.

Disney pin codes are handed out randomly, and from my inside knowledge, are drawn by a computer. In order to have your name eligible to be drawn for one, you’ve got to be in the Disney system. That can be accomplished by booking a trip, signing up on Disney.com, ordering a Disney planning DVD, going on a Disney vacation, etc… From there, it’s all random.

It doesn’t matter if you’re in DVC.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been to Disney World one time.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been Disney World 100 times.

It doesn’t matter if you’re an Annual Passholder, D23 Club member, DVC owner, go to Magic Kingdom every other Tuesday, and eat at Via Napoli four times a week.

It’s random. Totally awesome and can bring about the best deals imaginable, but still random.

I know people that get pin codes every year and haven’t been to Disney World since they were little. I also know people that go to Disney World every single year, and still have never received a pin code.

When it all boils down to it, Disney pin codes are extremely coveted and there are incredible reasons as to why. You’ve just got get yourself into the Disney system – which is easy – and then sit back and wait.

Just don’t forget to call in periodically and check with Disney to see if you’ve got a pin code. Many guests have them or have had them and never even knew it. don’t let them go to waste.

  1. How can I get a pin code?

  2. As a passholder & FL resident, I’m wondering if a pin code would be useful to me? If I can still use my resident resort discount offer & don’t have to purchase passes as part of a package for the discount, then it would be.. Or if it were for tickets & did not have to be for me, I could use it for when my family visits.

    • Pin codes can’t be used with other discounts. And also, pin codes must include the person that it was sent. They can be used for up to three rooms, but are non-transferable.

  3. I just received a free dining pin for 2014, can I book online or do I have to call. I also received a pin for 35% off select hotels. Can these pins be combined?

  4. Do they notify you by e-mail if you get a PIN or is the only way to know if you have one is by calling in?
The last trip was booked under my husbands name and he would be going with us again but it’s hard for him to call in to check so it would have to be me.

    • Sometimes you’ll get an email or even snail mail, but a lot of times…they won’t give you any notification. You can always find out by calling in.

  5. Where exactly do you call in to check pin code? Is there a specific phone number or at least a specific department of some sort that I could use as a starting point?

  6. Pete Carlson says

In regards to the free dining pin codes, do you believe Disney World will offer free dining again in October or early December to the public? With a large family of 9, free dining is the only way I can afford it

    • Signs and early indications point to yes, they will. But that is far from definite. There is no way of knowing just yet as to when or even IF Disney will offer free dining this year.

  7. so even if u havent booked it yet you could still call in to see if u can get a pin code?

    • Joy, pin codes can be attached to your name and Disney account whether you have a trip booked and in place or not. You simply need to be in the system from having booked a trip before.
