Disney Recipe: Churros and Chocolate Dipping Sauce

One of the most beloved snacks in all of Walt Disney World is that of the famous Churros you see all across Disney Parks. They seem simplistic, but taste so incredibly good and the chocolate sauce that comes with them makes them even better.

Making your own Churros at home isn’t as hard as you may think it is, and that is why you can have this Disney Recipe to do just that.

This recipe will make 12 Churros at 8-inches each.

  • 3/4 cups sugar (for cinnamon-sugar covering)
  • 2 tsp cinnamon (for cinnamon-sugar covering)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for dough)
  • 8 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1.5 tbsp sugar

1.) Mix 3/4 cup of sugar and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon into small bowl and stir around until combined well. Set this aside until later.

2.) Heat oil on medium-high heat and have prepared.

3.) Take a medium-sized saucepan and whisk in the salt, sugar, water, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and bring to a boil. Once brought to a boil, remove from heat and keep stirring while slowly adding in the flour.

The dough will begin to form into a ball. Remove and let cool.

4.) Have your heated oil next to a plate lined with paper towels (for draining churros) and bowl with cinnamon-sugar mixture next to it.

5.) Put cooled dough mixture into a pastry bag with a large/jumbo star-shaped tip. You can also just use a freezer bag, cut off one corner, and not use a tip.

6.) Squeeze 8-inch long strips of dough into the hot oil. Once at proper length, use kitchen shears to cut off dough.

7.) Allow each of the churros to cook until golden brown. Remove from hot oil and place on paper-towel lined plate to drain off excess oil.

8.) After 15-20 seconds, place churros into cinnamon-sugar mixture and roll until adequately covered.
