Hong Kong Disneyland is about to make some big changes and a major multi-year expansion will totally overhaul much of the park. Not only will Sleeping Beauty Castle be transformed but new lands based on Frozen and Marvel will be built as well.
Beginning in 2018, Hong Kong Disneyland will begin this huge expansion and it is set to continue through 2023. Currently, The Walt Disney Company and Hong Kong Government are evaluating the proposal to get it started.
“This proposed expansion brings the best of The Walt Disney Company to this wonderful tourist destination, giving guests an experience only Disney can deliver and infusing some of Disney’s most beloved characters and stories into this unique destination,” said Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
Opening on Jan. 11, 2017, the Iron Man Experience will be the first part of the new Marvel-themed land. The area will have a reimagined Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and include an attraction based on the popular Marvel franchises and films.
A brand new Frozen-themed land will also come to Hong Kong Disneyland and let Guests have experiences with the characters, attractions, dining, shopping, and much more as they walk through Arendelle.
Nearby, Sleeping Beauty Castle and the areas around it will be transformed entirely to create a whole new look. Hong Kong Disneyland will be bringing in brand new daytime and nighttime spectaculars and entertainment for Guests to enjoy in the refurbished area.
That includes a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
Tomorrow (Nov. 23, 2016), Moana will be released in theaters, but much more is coming to Hong Kong Disneyland. Moana’s Village Festival will be coming to Adventureland and give Guests a chance to dance, sing, watch a new daytime stage show, and even meet Moana herself.
