Around noon on Sunday, a 2016 Ford Focus was being driven on I-4 eastbound near DeLand, Florida, when it drifted into the left lane. It struck the right-hand side of the 2007 Nissan being driven by 40-year-old Greg Moyers who had his wife Sarah Moyers (39) and two of their daughters in the car with them.

The Nissan left the roadway after the contact and struck a tree. Greg and Sarah Moyers died on the scene.

13-year-old Hailey and 8-year-old Sophia were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Florida Highway Patrol troopers stated on Sunday night that Hailey was in stable condition while Sophia was critical.

Other family members were heading down from Missouri after receiving word of the crash that took the lives of Greg and Sarah Moyers. They were coming to Florida to advise the two girls of the loss of their parents as by Monday afternoon, they had not yet been informed.

“Their kids were their world,” family friend Loni Burnside Eaton said. “They were very involved and supportive parents and just wanted the best for them. They wanted the girls to experience Disney and the beach. I can’t believe this really happened.”

Driving the Ford was 43-year-old Charles King of North Carolina who was not injured in the crash. An investigation is still ongoing by troopers and no charges have been filed as of this time.
