It is now common knowledge that the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror in Disney California Adventure is going to be closing in January with a new attraction called Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout coming in its place.
Well, the work has already begun even though the original attraction has a few months left. Things started overnight as the Hollywood Tower Hotel sign was taken down off of the attraction.

For those wondering and getting a little nervous, the attraction is not being torn down as the building will remain in place. The outside portion of the building and the track inside will stay as they are while the rest of the attraction is being changed to Guardians of the Galaxy.
Disney California Adventure has put up a new promotion, of sorts, where Guests can still ride Tower of Terror as those looking for a “Late Check Out.” If you’d like to take part in that, you can enjoy the attraction in complete darkness.

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure will close for good on Jan. 2, 2017, and that is when the big-time work will begin. From there, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout is set to open around the same time as the second film which hits theaters in early May.
