The Earful Tower, Or Earffel Tower, At Disney’s Hollywood Studios Is No More

There have been a lot of changes over the past few months at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and it was known that one more was going to be the removal of the Earful Tower, or Earffel Tower as some say. Well, even though no-one got to say their proper good-byes…it is now gone.

earful tower

Yes, it has been referred to as The Earful Tower by some and The Earffel Tower by others, but no matter how you spell it…it’s no longer there.

Overnight, The Earful Tower was removed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as the park continues getting ready for a Star Wars-themed land and Toy Story Land. With that, the 130-foot tall tower was going to be taken down as first announced back in January, and it has finally happened.

Even though Disney’s Hollywood Studios had a number of different icons over the years, there iss one that always seemed to stand out and it was The Earful Tower. It was in place when Disney’s MGM Studios opened on May 1, 1989, and it was there through April 28, 2016.

Other icons for the park have been the Great Movie Ride (Chinese Theater), the Hollywood Tower Hotel (Tower of Terror), and the Sorcerer’s Hat which is now gone.

Unfortunately, the Earful Tower is now gone as well.

Doctor Disney note: Usually, I’ll keep my opinions to myself. I’m one that has been in support of the changes to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as the attractions and areas taken out have not been paid much attention by Guests in years. Yes, I’ll miss the Osborne Lights, but fully understood Disney wanting to take advantage of the area for more than two months a year.

The Earful Tower? This is one that kind of gets to me and I hate to see it gone. Truly do.
