Today marks the day that Disneyland starts undergoing some incredible and huge changes as Star Wars Land (working title) begins construction. Disney has released a sneak peek look at how things will be with the Disneyland Railroad and Rivers of America waterfront once it reopens later this year.in the future.
The new 14-acre expansion project sees the first real changes starting today as many attractions are shut down for months and some are now gone forever. Hoping to make the transition a bit easier, Disney has released this concept art of how things will look when completed.

When these areas reopen, the north bank of the Rivers of America will have a beautiful new waterfront, which I’m excited to give you a sneak peek at today.
As you can see from this artist’s rendering, courtesy of Walt Disney Imagineering, this gorgeous new riverbank will also feature an elevated trestle over which the iconic Disneyland Railroad will travel.
To make way for these changes, Disneyland has now officially closed and will be removing the Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue, Big Thunder Ranch Petting Farm, and Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree.
There are other Disneyland attractions closing for an undetermined amount of time, and it is not exactly known when they will reopen either. You can check out the full Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Refurbishment list at the link.
It isn’t exactly known when construction will begin on the Star Wars-themed land, but it is known that ground is breaking in 2016.
