Doctor Disney Explains: Comparing The Size Of The Disney Parks Around The World

Many people have vacationed to the four theme parks of Walt Disney World. Others have gone out west and visited Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Perhaps you’ve gone around the world and visited Tokyo Disneyland or plan on checking out the brand new Shanghai Disneyland when it opens in Spring of 2016.

But is there a real difference?

Of course, there are real differences and there are a lot of them. Getting into more detail comes later, but let’s first look at the sizes of the Disney Parks around the world in this edition of Doctor Disney Explains.

Now, all parks are relatively approximate in size, but very close to exact size.  Over time, some small changes here and there may have altered things, but according to the Walt Disney Company fact book, here are the sizes and some may surprise you.

From smallest to biggest:

1.) Walt Disney Studios Paris – 62 acres

2.) Hong Kong Disneyland – 68 acres

3.) Disney California Adventure – 72 acres (it was the smallest park until Cars Land opened up)

4.) Disneyland – 85 acres = This does not count the recently acquired 14.7 acres that is said to be going for the Star Wars Land area.

5.) Magic Kingdom – 107 acres

6.) Tokyo Disneyland – 115 acres

7.) Disneyland Paris – 126 acres

8.) Disney’s Hollywood Studios – 135-137 acres (in its present form)

9.) Tokyo DisneySea – 176 acres

10.) Epcot – 300 acres

11.) Disney’s Animal Kingdom – 403 or 500 acres depending on who you ask = Disney’s website claims 500 acres

All of these parks will pale in comparison to Shanghai Disneyland when it opens next year though. It will check in at 963 acres, but some reports have it covering a grand total of 988 acres. Either way, it’s easily going to be the largest Disney Park in the world.

The Disney Parks are different for many reasons, and you should visit as many of them as you can. That’s a big reason why it’s great having different things at each park and not all the same attractions or restaurants…or even size around the world.
