Disney Files Permits For ‘Andy’s Room’ In Tomorrowland – Taking Place Of Old Tomorrowland Arcade?

The Walt Disney World Resort has filed a permit for something new over in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom, and it looks like it’s going to be a bit of Toy Story. The permit filed is for something called “Andy’s Room” and looks like it could be going into the spot of the old Tomorrowland Arcade.

The permit filed lists as such:

  • Filing Area: Magic Kingdom/Tomorrowland
  • Project Name: Andy’s Room
  • Comments: Notice of Commencement

Big thanks to Doctor Disney reader Denny M. for pointing this out to me.

The permit for Andy’s Room was filed on Sept. 10, 2015, and there’s not a whole lot more information, but it is for a rather large area. The size of it is over 15,000 square feet, and it looks to be the old Tomorrowland Arcade.

Now, even though Toy Story Land is being built over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this would be pretty cool to have in Magic Kingdom.

The possibilities are endless and it could bring about a new meet-and-greet area or indoor playground and more. This is all speculation on my part so don’t look at this being confirmed.

Please remember…there has been nothing officially announced or confirmed by Disney so things could change. The project name of “Andy’s Room” could end up being something else entirely.

Ironically enough, the Tomorrowland Arcade was closed due to new Florida laws about prize games and restrictions on claw machines. Ooooooooo…the Claw!

Another thought is that it could be an interactive queue line for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin…but again, we need to wait and see.

UPDATE: Some have reached out to me and believe this work is for “HVAC” or “mechanical” work being done at the exit of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.

Andy’s Room could be on the way, but only time will tell. We need to simply wait and see what Disney ends up doing from this point and going forward with this permit/project, or see if changes are made.

Again, please note that this could end up being nothing new. It could just be some work on things already in place or nothing. Permits have been filed before and nothing come from them.

Hopefully, we will know more soon.

  1. I follow Disney’s permits pretty closely and had seen this one last week. The location of the work is part of the Buzz Light-year ride, NOT the old Tomorrowland arcade. It’s probably related to the gift shop at the end of the ride. The permit is for “mechanical” work which is normally HVAC work.

  2. I was going to guess at this being the queue area and maybe an interactive queue? The slant at the bottom right of the layout says to me the wall that goes along the exit to Laugh Floor. Yes mechanical as the previous commenter said would make sense but just maybe interactive queue is coming.
