My Disney Experience Updated So Guests Now Opt Out Of Receiving New MagicBands With Each Resort Stay

MagicBands opt outGuests have long since complained about being forced to receive new MagicBands with every Walt Disney World Resort stay. Well, now, My Disney Experience has received an update that will finally allow Guests to opt out of getting a new one, if they so choose to do so.

Now, the website is allowing this capability at this time, but the mobile app has not yet received the update.

Guests will now have the option of receiving a new set of MagicBands or not for their new on-site property stay. There are some stipulations though to opt out.

1.) Your My Disney Experience account must have at least one active MagicBand listed.

2.) That active MagicBand must be less than one year old.

MagicBands have a battery that can’t be replaced and they have been said to have a battery life of about two years. Depending on use, that could be a little less or a little more.

Disney wants to make sure that Guests don’t arrive at Disney World and then end up having MagicBands that die out or just simply don’t work any longer.

For each Walt Disney World Resort reservation, Guests will have to opt out of receiving new MagicBands or not. If you do opt out, you’ll still have the ability to go in and change your mind to receive the new bands, if done in enough time.
