Fantasmic! Testing Assigned Seating Next Week At Disney’s Hollywood Studios

fantasmic assigned seatingA new test will be running on a number of days next week and it’s going to be at Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The test will experiment with assigned seating in the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater to cut down on wait time for the nighttime show.

The test is only scheduled to run on six specific days, and there will be no advance FASTPass+ reservations available during that time. On the test days, Guests will have to head to a FASTPass+ kiosk on the day of the show.

According to WDWMagic, the testing will be different days for different ways of doing the assigned seating. As it should go is:

  • July 21 and 22, 2015 – Testing will assign specific seats
  • July 23 and 24, 2015 – Testing will assign specific rows
  • July 27 and 28, 2015 – Testing will assign specific sections

Obviously, Disney is looking to test the Fantasmic! seating in different ways to simply see what works best. With over 7,000 Guests at a sold out show, many show up hours ahead of time to have a good seat.

Disney is hoping to bring that down to no more than 30 minutes per showing of Fantasmic!, and make the stress a little less on everyone. As you may remember, Disney tested pre-ordering and delivery of food/merchandise at Fantasmic! in the past.

As of now, there is no word as to how or if this will affect the seating for anyone with the Fantasmic! Dinner Package. It may not bring about any change as those Guests are already schedule to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to show time and be directed to an assigned section.

Also, I’m trying to find out how this will affect the standby line for Fantasmic! and if it will alter it or change it in any way. There is also no mention yet if the day-of Fantasmic! FASTPass+ reservation will count against your daily allotment of three. Working on finding out this information.
