‘Fancy Nancy’ Is Coming to Disney Junior By 2017

Fancy Nancy Disney JuniorThe book series known as  “Fancy Nancy” is coming to the small screen and will be a part of Disney Junior by 2017.

The series has been optioned by Disney Junior for development, and it’s going to be an original animated series. “Fancy Nancy” will also have her own TV movie and it is slated for 2017.

“Children have been captivated by Fancy Nancy’s wit and irrepressible spirit for a decade and we are very eager to give her an even bigger stage on which to perform,” Nancy Kanter, executive vice president of original programming and general manager of Disney Junior Worldwide, said in a statement.

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Disney Junior to bring Fancy Nancy to the small screen and to the next generation of fans,” added Susan Katz, president and publisher of HarperCollins Children’s Books. “As we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of this bestselling series, it’s exciting to see our beloved character making her TV debut.”

“Fancy Nancy” is written by Jane O’Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser.

The books tell the story of a young girl who is very drawn to all things fancy – clothing, words, and much more. Disney Junior has plans to develop merchandise and other items based on the series that is aimed at children in the 2-7 age range.

“This is definitely one of those ‘pinch me’ moments,” said O’Connor in a statement. “When Robin and I met Nancy Kanter and her team, we knew instantly that Disney Junior was the plus-perfect home for Fancy Nancy.”
