First of all, please know that this is a rumor…RUMOR…rumor. Got it? Yes? Good? On we go…there are rumors (there’s that word again) floating around that Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom could be closing to make way for a new table-service restaurant in the old Adventureland Verandah.
Permits were recently filed for a new Adventureland Verandah Restaurant at Magic Kingdom, and while exact plans aren’t known…it could make way for a restaurant that hasn’t been seen since 1994.
The permits – of which plans can be seen below – show a gigantic amount of space for this possibly planned “Verandah Restaurant.” Now, the rumor is that the space will be turned into a Princess Tiana-themed restaurant from Disney’s Princess and the Frog.
These permits could change, of course, but this is what has been filed at this point.
Doctor Disney reader Steve M. first pointed out the rumor, and Disney Food Blog has picked up on it as well. Again though, this is a rumor.
Now, with those permits…it shows that the new restaurant could take up the dining patio next to Aloha Isle. Rumor has it that Aloha Isle will be taken out as well since the famed Dole Whip recently started being sold at Sunshine Tree Terrace.
Coming this summer, Liberty Tree Tavern in Liberty Square is closing for a near six-month refurbishment. This could be done to revamp the place and fix a lot of issues (more space), but also could be keeping it closed while the new restaurant backing up to it in Adventureland has a lot of loud construction done without bothering Guests.
With that, the rumor of a Princess Tiana-themed restaurant coming into the works.
Again…this is a whole lot of rumor and nothing is really confirmed at all except that Liberty Tree Tavern is going under refurbishment later this year and permits have been filed in Adventureland.
Could Aloha Isle be on the way out? We have to wait and see.

The rumor I had heard was that it was going to be a Jungle Cruise themed restaurant with the skippers of the Jungle Cruise moonlighting as the waitstaff.
