Doctor Disney Explains: What 180+10 Days For ADRs Really Means

Doctor Disney Explains ADRsThere have been a number of emails coming my way and asking me about something in particular when it comes to Walt Disney World Vacations and making your Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs). Have you ever heard of the “180+10”?

Well, if you have or if you haven’t…there is going to be some valuable information for you in this edition of Doctor Disney Explains.

It is now commonly known that guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotel can book their ADRs beginning at 180 days out from their arrival/check-in date.

Now, there is also something commonly known as “180+10,” but it’s not what everyone is making it seem.

Looking around at different groups and forums and message boards…some people are under the impression that they can book their ADRs at 190 days out.

Technically…no. No, you can’t.

If Disney was going to allow you to book your ADRs at 190 days out, then they would simply say, “You can start booking your dining reservations at 190 days from your check-in date.” Would be rather pointless for them to say “180+10,” don’t you think?

First of all, let’s explain something – What is “180+10“?

ANSWER: Upon hitting your 180 days in advance of your date of arrival, you can make your ADRs for up to 10 days of reservations for your entire vacation.

See? That’s where the “180+10” thing comes into play. Let me give you an example.

Day one will be your check-in date and you will be at 180 days out. On this date, you can also make reservations for day three of your vacation (182 days out) or even day five (184) of your vacation, if you have that many.

That will allow you to grab ADRs at the “180+10” mark prior to your arrival date.

There are a few exceptions to this rule though.

EXCEPTION #1: Any ADRs made for Cinderella’s Royal Table cannot be made more than 180 days out. So at 180 days, you can make an ADR for Cinderella’s Royal Table for your check-in date. If you want one for the next day or the next day of your vacation, then you’ll have to call 180 days out from those dates.

EXCEPTION #2: Disney’s Swan, Disney’s Dolphin, Shades of Green, Downtown Disney and off-site hotels do not fall under the “180+10” rule. For each day of ADRs, you would need to call in for each and every single day of your vacation.

If there are ever any questions regarding your ADRs and dining and aren’t sure about this info or anything else, just call 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463) to speak with Disney directly.

Ok, so that hopefully clears up a number of the questions that have come my way about this situation. To make sure things run smoothly, you could have an agent from Middle of the Magic Travel book your Disney Vacation Package for you and book your ADRs to your liking.

With 2015 packages coming out on Wednesday, it wouldn’t hurt.
