Reports State Director Wants Kristen Stewart To Play Belle In Live-Action ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Kristen Stewart BelleAfter the success of Disney’s “Maleficent” starring Angelina Jolie, word came out that a live-action “Beauty and the Beast” was one of the next movies on the schedule. It was also recently announced that Bill Condon would be directing the film, and it appears as if he wants Kristen Stewart to take the lead role of Belle.

This should come as no real surprise considering that Condon worked with Stewart before as he directed parts one and two of “The Twilight Sage: Breaking Dawn.”

Hollywoodlife.com is reporting that Kirsten Stewart actually has a very strong shot at landing the role of Belle.

For those that may not remember, she did play Snow White in “Snow White and the Huntsman” (comments and opinions withheld on that one), and it seems like Condon noticed her performance in it.

“The process and the script for the movie are still in the beginning stages but as it fleshes out, Bill Condon has definitely thought of Kristen Stewart as a possible Belle,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.

It appears like there is one snag in this whole situation though.

“By the time they make the film, it might be 2015 or 2016 and they think she’ll be busy and they might go after somebody younger. Disney’s thoughts are, the big name for the film should be devoted to the Beast so Kristen has a 50/50 chance to be Belle.”

Kristen Stewart is currently 24-years-old, and waiting a few years to make the live-action “Beauty and the Beast” may not work if she’s too old for the role at that time.

It is not confirmed that Kristen Stewart will play the role of Belle, but it’s out there now and possible.

Disney is looking to make live-action versions of both “The Jungle Book” and “Cinderella” in the future.
