Disney’s Monorail service to be severely limited in early 2014

Disney Monorail service limitedThe Walt Disney World Monorail system is going to be severely limited in the early part of the new year, and guests are going to have to adjust.

Beginning on Jan. 21, 2014, the Resort Monorail and Express Monorail will be down for maintenance during non-peak times on weekdays.

During weekdays, the two monorail beams will close between 11:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Maintenance on the beams is expected to continue through the end of March 2014, but that is always subject to change. There is no exact date for completion.

The Epcot Monorail beam will continue to operate as normal as no maintenance will be done on it at this time.

During the weekday hours that the monorail beams are not operational, there will be additional bus and water transportation for guests.

This isn’t much of a surprise considering all of the issues and problems that the Disney Monorails have had just over the past year alone. While some may think this is rather inconvenient; the maintenance is absolutely necessary.

Comments

  1. Grand Floridian and Polynesian guests will have the boat option during those times, which is very convenient.

  2. That’s a bummer. On the 1st day its closed (1/21), I was going to leave MK around 4:30, go have dinner at chef mickey’s, and then go back to MK for the evening, all via the monorail. Looks like I should re-think that strategy. Thanks Doc for the heads up on this.
